However, her path was far from linear. After her early successes, she stepped away from the track for several years before returning at 26, driven by undimmed determination. That comeback marked the beginning of an exceptional international career, including three Olympic appearances (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024) and multiple Beninese national records.
Doubt, Injury, and Perseverance: The Real Face of Performance
Far from a straightforward success story, Yarigo’s career has also been shaped by hardship. The athlete has openly spoken about difficult seasons marked by repeated injuries and moments of doubt, at times even considering giving up competition altogether.
Yet this same woman stood on the podium at the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, claiming the first-ever world medal in Benin’s athletics history.
